This is just another pre-race predictions and speculations post. Tomorrow is the MistleTOE Half. Yes, that one. The weather soothsayers say it’s going to be clear and 37 degrees, “feeling like” a freezing 32 at the start, warming to a balmy 41 at the finish. Sounds like a job for…
I’m feeling pretty good, and had a nice eleven miler last Saturday. This is also (most likely) the last race of the year for me, so might as well use up what I’ve got left. Let’s go with oh how about 1:25:22. I’m probably capable of under that, but I’ll start out too fast. I remember some mild hills, but mostly flatness. I also remember being able to keep my pace consistent.
I look forward to attending the after party this time.
This was not a very pithy post. I hope that doesn’t bode ill…

What won’t bode ill…are your toes this year!!! Let’s not revisit Mistletoe 2009… Thank goodness for the Sockiplast! I’ll be there and running…well, crossing the finish line…26 weeks pregnant. I’ll look for ya at the start. Oh, and you are fit…trust that…don’t worry about starting out too fast…you can handle it. Ride your adrenaline in that first mile, reassess in mile two and get things under control…then run with heart the last 11. That .1…well, we all know what happens there…the sights and sounds give us the nudge to finish strong!
Time to let it all loose if this is the last one of the year. Let me see 1:18…
Oh, my wife likes that you remember “mostly flatness”. This will be her first time running Mistletoe.
Good luck!
Marisa:
It will be weird seeing you behind me on the outnbacks instead of in front! Looking forward to seeing you. I wonder, is pregnant running the next barefoot running?
Scott:
So, basically run at my 5k pace for 13.1 miles. Got it. Re flatness, consider the courses I run… reviews say definitely rolling with a few moments of steepness. But it’s a loop, so there’s a down for every up. Encouraging, right?
Hey, I didn’t say it would be *easy*…
Have a great race!
LOL! How about barefoot running while pregnant?! I’ve been wearing the NB Minimus with Vibram outsole…in-love. Spot on with the 1:25! You were smokin’ the pavement! Tough course. I’ll try to catch up to ya for next year…good to see ya out there!
